  • Is there a Satanic Afterlife?

Do Satanists believe in the afterlife? What will happen to them? are they headed to a paradise or to hell? These questions have been sent to me before, and although they are not easy questions to answer, there are some resorces available that show what some Satanists believe about the afterlife.

In the philosophy of Satanism, the Satanist does not accept the possibility of the afterlife, choosing to instead believe as little as they can and to accept life in the here and now: “Life is the Great Indulgence, Death the great Abstinence, therefore make the most of life in the HERE AND NOW!” [The Satanic Bible,Book of Satan, Ch. 4 Verse 1] This sentiment is echoed again in the SB with the statement, “Here and now is our day of Joy.. our day of opportunity”. this is quite opposite to what other religions teach; that we are to feel guilty for enjoying life in a pleasurable way.

Making the most of here and now refers to living life without the guilt of a punishment or reward. The Satanist does not believe that they are going to an infernal hell, or Dante’s Lake of fire or any other place beyond the grave. I tend to agree. Many religions have tried to explain this phenomenon by teaching and preparing their religious for an eventual blessing or punishment in the afterlife, or the promise of reincarnation.

I am interested in the amount of ghost phenomenon that I have seen. while I do not accept all of it as true, some of these things can not be explained. it would seem that ghosts and their existence, and stories of their existence, are a part of the natural world we live in. I can not explain the phenomenon nor can I dismiss the proof that I have seen. I personally believe that the soul experiences a state of suspension after death but this soul is not eternal nor does it ascend into a heaven or descend into a hell. (I think there is a metaphysical reasoning for a spiritual existence after death. Religion directs the the belief in this phenomenon, but outside of religion there may be other explanations.)

But, I can only base my beliefs (or, ideas on what the afterlife is) on what I have seen, and evidence like EVP’s [electronic voices], witnesses, personal experience, video evidence, orb photography, and the numerous stories and general belief in ghosts makes me feel as if we do not fully understand what happens after death; maybe we create our own experience of life, and we do not know what is beyond death until we walk through that door.

    I will not be afraid.

PS. What is your views on the afterlife? Does it exist? what is it? What is it not?

  • My Relationship With Satan

This post relates to theistic satanism, and more specifically, my personal relationship with the deity known as Satan.

Some people have asked me if I believe in Satan as a deity; and I do. But then they also say, that if I believe in Satan, I also believe in god. I believe that the christian god is as real as the many other gods that are out there but i am not obligated to be a part of *his* religion in order to be a satanist. This is because the Satan that is known to me, the Satan that is known to other satanists is not the same Satan from Christianity.

This is not opinion, it is based on several different factors, which makes Satanism unique from Christianity. One of these, is that satanism as an organized religion didn’t start until the 1960’s and since then it has developed into what it is today- a separate religion and philosophy which has borrowed from many different sources for inspiration, much like neo-paganism and other religious movements today.

Why is this Satan different than the christian Satan? There are characteristics that satanists identify with, through the mythology of the christian Satan. These are usually the desirable traits like freedom, individuality, and opposition.

However, unlike christian teachings the Satan of satanists is not an evil thing; while it personifies the dark aspects of the soul satanism seeks to reconcile these halves to make a whole, instead of denying that both good and ‘evil’ come from within. The christian seeks either to please god or to fear the devil; while the satanist only seeks to please the self.

My personal relationship with Satan has been an experience that has been with me for a long time. Satan is a living god to me, but I am not a religious satanist. Religion requires faith and belief, and the use of religious doctrines and that is not my path. Satan as the one who puts challenges into my path and through his works I see ‘Satan’.

My greatest communion with him is during the times that I realize my full potential, either spiritually or magically. Satan has inspired me as a role-model of independence which is why i am loyal to Satan, but I do not feel the need to worship him. My form of spirituality is manifestation of the satanic current through satanic works.

My worship and praise is in the form of action which helps Satan to manifest in this world in one more unique way. My search for who or what Satan is over the years has also been a search within myself. Satan does not direct my actions, nor does he ‘tell me’ what to do, or guide my decisions. I don’t look to Satan for guidance, I look within, because that is where my true answer is. What I’ve learned in magic and the occult, I’ve learned through practice and experience.

And this is the metaphor of Satan; that he only needed himself, “I” from beginning to end. That to me is the greatest teaching of Satan. This is one of the reasons why I am an independent Satanist. But, i have to digress; everyone has their own personal spiritual view, and personal communication with Satan.

Others may have different relationships with Satan, and achieve different results. I have known others who worship Satan as a deity and see him either as a master “The Master” or as a father figure “Father Satan”. Satan could be strictly symbolic for others, who see him as a motivator. What does Satan represent to you?

  • The Satanic Holidays

    The Satanic Holidays

Satanic HolidaysBecause of the Holidays, Ive been busy, and I thought that it would be appropriate to post this information about the holidays celebrated in Satanism:

There are holidays or celebrations for Satanists year-round. These Satanic Holidays were adapted like many other holidays, from the pagan calendar year. A traditional reference for Satanic Holidays can be found in the Satanic Bible, where LaVey describes seven different Satanic Holidays or celebrations throughout the year, three of them being major Holidays or events for Satanists.

These three major holidays for Satanists are the Birthday, Walpurgisnacht and Halloween. The birthday is considered to be the most important day of the year. The Satanist celebrates the birthday as a way of glorifying the self. Satanists also celebrate Walpurgis, on April 30th as the night that LaVey created the Church of Satan. Halloween or Samhain is also celebrated as the night where the veil of the astral is at its most thin.

While the Satanic Bible focuses on the three main holidays, there are also other holidays for satanists to celebrate and observe throughout the year. The Solstices and equinoxes are celebrated within Satanism1 by those that include aspects of traditional witchcraft in their practices. These Satanic holidays, like the holidays of so many other neo-pagan practices, were adapted from variations of the common Wiccan and pagan calendar year.

The Holiday Calendar for Satanists is very similar to the pagan model, listing seven different holidays in total, while the traditional Wiccan calendar year has eight. An example of the typical pagan calendar year can be found in the Witches Bible, which describes the solstices, procession of equinoxes and other holidays, connected with the celebration of their gods and goddesses.

    Seven traditional holidays for Satanists.

    The Birthday
    Spring Equinox, 21st March
    Walpurgisnacht, 30th April
    Summer Solstice, 22nd June
    Autumn Equinox, 21st September
    Samhain, 31st October
    Winter Solstice, 22nd December

  • Satanic Mythology – Lucifer

As some of you know I am releasing a book as soon as I am able to finish writing and editing it. This book is in the final stages and many of you have waited a long time!

The [tentative] title is Lucifer: The Dark Light of Satan. I know that many Satanists will appreciate the story of this book. This is a book of Satanic Mythology, a complete legendary history of Lucifer from pre-christian times, his infamous fall after the fall of Rome, to the present day where Lucifer is worshiped as a [neo-pagan] god by Satanists, Luciferians and the Stregha. The focus is on the legends and ideas that Luciferians and Satanists identify with, through the mythology of Lucifer.

Lucifer is a guiding force in the religion of Satanism. His presence creates a balance between the dark and the light. There are many reasons why Satanists identify with this fallen angel. Some believe that he offers wisdom, knowledge and enlightenment. I find the strength of Lucifer to be an inspiration,a motivational spark from which many great things can be achieved.

But, what does Lucifer mean to You? Is he a bringer of enlightenment? A god? A fallen angel under the command of Satan? How do you relate to Lucifer?

Feel free to comment and subscribe to my blog! And look forward to the release of my new book, Lucifer: The Dark Light of Satan

  • Dedication To Satan

Recently I made a video for youtube, addressing the topic of pact-making with Satan. This is a controversial subject in Satanism because not all satanists accept that Satan is a god. For some, the forces of Satan are only Symbolic. Those who feel that Satan is only symbolic, do not have to be left out of the pact-making process. The pact can be literal, as a spiritual vow or agreement, or it can be symbolic, as a way of representing an agreement with satanism, or as a method of declaring one’s self as a satanist. There are a few things to take into consideration before you commence with ‘making a deal with the devil‘…

    1. You should consider carefully why you want to make a pact; what does it mean to you specifically, why is satanism important to you? What does your pact represent between you and satan? what does it symbolize?

    2. Selling the soul to Satan for riches fortune and fame is a myth and an urban legend. If that were true, all satanists would be rich and famous. Study the writings of Satanism, like the Satanic Bible instead of believing the hype written by non-satanists.

    3. Research and find out what Satan means to you. Only you can decide this for yourself and it is good to know what Satan represents to you before you enter into a life-long association with a spiritual path

    4. Fear comes from a lack of knowledge, and often those who don’t know what Satan represents, are apprehensive to make a pact thinking that Satan is dangerous or harmful. This is a fear that is created through the teachings of religions and superstitions. To the Theistic Satanist, Satan is a god, and this god is neither cruel nor benevolent; but it is the power and influence of Satan. And a pact with this god is an honorable thing.

    5. Realize that Satan is not here to satisfy our every desire, nor will he likely appear to those who are without a true spiritual intent, unless you are appealing to the forces of the christian Satan who would most likely love to bargain with you for your soul for your every earthly whim. Satan is not at your beck and call, unlike what the grimories say. From a Satanists point of view, we satisfy our own desires and by doing this we are in praise of Satan, and in praise of the self.

    6. Communion with a god, with Satan is a complex and lifelong spiritual process.

  • Independent Spiritual Satanism

    Independent Spiritual Satanism

What is independent Satanism? The practice of solitary Satanism is on the rise today because of the availability of knowledge that we can access and use for our own personal benefit.

Many stories that feature Satan give Satan an independent streak. Satan was the first rebel, the one who refused to conform. So it makes sense as a Satanist to be independent as well.

It is said that there is no ‘Satanic community’, no bond between the ones who choose to be Satanists, but I disagree. We are Satanists, regardless of what style we express this through, and our bond is found in the symbolism that we all use. You don’t have to belong to an organization. You can be an independent Satanist.

Anyone can be an independent Satanist. There are no rules or agendas to follow because it is something that is self-created through one’s own personal philosophy. Independent Satanism allows you to have freedom.
The independent Satanist is not allied with any groups or organizations, working for their own gain instead of using their time and energy to work for others. The philosophies of Satanism are generally based on autonomy and self-reliance, so the need for group interaction is a personal choice and not a requirement.

With independent Satanism, you are responsible for your own future and your own path. You will not have the guidance of a group, but you can seek out other independent Satanists to talk with and share experiences with. You have to find what resonates for you in occultism and Satanism and study and learn as much as you can.

You have to be able to stay motivated and not be afraid to be innovative and create your own methods. And most of all don’t be afraid to try, you have everything to gain if you do. Independent Satanism’s greatest benefit is the knowledge that you have the ability to direct your life in the way that you want to.
